Sorare

Sorare is without a shadow of a doubt my current obsession, if you look on my YouTube you’ll notice one week Sorare just appeared, and it’s still there going strong. I’ll admit it’s not one of my popular series, but it is the one I enjoy the most.

But what actually is Sorare? Well don’t worry, it is a massively complex online game, however, you can join it and only follow the basics, you don’t need to know everything from the start – just play, and have fun while you learn.

Beginners Guide

Personally I’d like to think everything for a new beginner is covered within the video – however, if you like to read I’ve got you sorted just keep going!

What is Sorare?

To give the best description I think it’s best just to take it straight from the horses mouth!

Sorare is a global fantasy football game where you can play with officially licensed digital cards and earn prizes every week

We are backed by a world-class team of investors, supported by gaming giant Ubisoft and already trusted by 130+ football clubs, with many more coming every month.

Welcome to Sorare where you can truly #OwnYourGame

But what does it mean to #OwnYourGame?
Sorare is a global fantasy football game where you can build your squads with limited digitable player cards. There are the two key parts of what makes Sorare an entirely new football experience.

True Ownership
Your cards are blockchain digital NFTS with proven scarcity. Blockchain technology gives your digital cards super-powers.

For the first time we have a technology where your collectibles are digitally unique. This has unlocked collecting in the digital space.

With this technology comes true ownership. You don’t own game items you buy in traditional digital games today. When the game ends, you lose everything. With Sorare, these cards are yours forever. You can trade and sell these cards freely in our open marketplace or display them proudly to your friends and family. Just like a physical good, except without the worries of shipping costs.

Usability
What also makes Sorare unique is that our digitable collectibles have a utility! Every week you can take part in our global fantasy football tournaments. Scout, trade, build your squads and compete against Managers worldwide to earn digital and physical prizes.

Portability
Did we say that these cards have super-powers? On top of being usable in the Sorare fantasy football game, you can use your cards in a variety of other games built by gaming giants like Ubisoft or up and coming game designers that are also members of our community.

So what does all this mean?
Your Sorare cards bring unique real-world and digital football experiences. We’re building a platform to transform online football fandom. Where football fans, footballers and clubs can connect through our one true calling, the beautiful game!

What is a Sorare card?

A Sorare Card is an officially licensed digital collectible of a footballer for a particular football season.

Thanks to blockchain technology, fans can collect their favourite players with the benefits of provable scarcity (fixed supply). On top of that, Sorare Cards are freely tradeable and usable in an open world of different applications and games. Each collectible enjoys many of the attributes of other blockchain-assets: it cannot be copied or taken away from you. Users also enjoy access to the complete digital history of the card. For the 2021-22 season, 4 levels of scarcity exist for each Sorare Card: Unique (1 copy), Super Rare (10 copies), Rare (100 copies) and Limited (1000 copies)

What are the tournaments?

The tournaments take place when there are football games scheduled for the coming week. If there are always games on then a tournament will run twice a week. Within each tournament there is several leagues you can enter (it’s not as confusing as it sounds – trust me!).

For example as you can see here this coming game week runs from the 26th to the 29th. You can see there is a competition tab for each card type, common, limited, rare, super rare and so on.

Within these are specific leagues, you have the All Star league that allows any card to be entered (within the card type – so there is an All star league for each type of card).

Under 23’s League – fairly self explanatory.

Champion Europe League – Allows you to enter cards from the Top 5 Divisions in Europe.

Challenger Europe League – Allows cards from all the leagues outside the Top 5 Divisions in Europe.

Champion America – Allows cards that play in any of the American Leagues.

Champion Asia – Allows cards that play in any Asian Leagues.

You then have training and the weekly challenge. The training is incredibly useful! The more you use your cards the more they will level up, this will help you increase your score every week – it helps to stay loyal to players! If your players aren’t playing one game week or you have a better option in your team for that week, then you can put your players into a training squad and still get them leveled up!
The special weekly will have different requirements each week – there’s normally a good opportunity to get some rewards in this league!

What are the rewards?

The rewards are very simple when it comes to Sorare – the higher up the league you finish the better reward you will get! The first image shows the reward you’ll get from the casual league – this is free to play! Get in the top 3 and you’ll potentially be looking at some huge profit (depending on what player you get!).

Secondly we have the limited league, the all star league to be specific. You can see you don’t even need to perform too well to get yourself a return!

Thresholds

You’ll notice in the third picture there is a threshold section, this is only available in the Rare All Star league – it’s something you should try to aim for! With your squad you’ll have 5 players, all will be scored out of 100, meaning you can get 500 maximum.

If you enter your players into the Rare All Star league, you’ll get an ETH payout if you manage to score over 205 points (0.010 ETH – £30.00 at time of typing!) or over 250 points (0.020 ETH – £60.00 at time of typing!).

This means if you manage to hit 250 each week – possibly even twice a week. You could be looking at nearly £500!

The final picture is from the Unique league, this is really where the money is at just look at them rewards!

Limited v Rare Team

If you’re new to Sorare and haven’t signed up yet please be sure to sign up HERE, it’ll get you a free limited card after you purchase 5 from the auction, it’ll also help me out a lot too!

I’ve been doing sorare now since August 2021. I’ve had a mix of limited squads that never got rewards, rare teams that never hit the thresholds. It hasn’t been a pretty ride. So the last two weeks I’ve decided to take the whole budget I have for sorare, around 0.244 ETH or at the time £600.00 and build a hypothetical team, one limited team, one rare team.

Introduction

As I said above, I’ve been a little annoyed with my sorare rewards since joining, mainly because I haven’t had many. So I decided to try out building a full limited squad with all my budget and a full rare squad, then compare how they do to decide where to actually invest my budget.

It”s time to answer the question, I’m new to sorare and on a budget, do I use limited cards or rare cards?

So to get started I’ll show you the squads I managed to build with my budgets, I’m going to show you the spreadsheet where I kept track of the value and prices of the players. Please note these players may no longer cost this much, and also ETH has had a huge drop since doing this, so please keep all of that in mind.

As you can see this is the rare team I built. If you’re going in on a budget like I am I’d 100% recommend using a common goalkeeper from your club, you’re allowed one common card in your Rare All Star team, so use the GK as that’s the most expensive position. Using a common will give you a hit, but almost everyone takes it so it’s not that bad.

Results

Just to keep this nice and simple there is no point beating around the bush. Let’s get straight into the results!

Throughout the two weeks I recorded any rewards either team got, and in addition I also recorded how much the cards value changed, so the final results below are if we sold every player we owned at the end of the two weeks.

As you can see we didn’t get a single card reward on the rare side, but the ETH threshold for both the weeks meant we earned more through rewards on the rare side. The value of the limited cards however increased more over the two weeks.

In the end though, there is a small benefit to the rare side. With there only being a small difference however I would say it’s completely up to you which path you’d like to go down. If you’re someone who wants to be getting a stable income, then go for the rare. If you’re using sorare as a bit of fun and want to see what rewards you might be able to get then go for the limited!

Personally, after this I’m going to go build myself a threshold team. That’ll be the next sorare video over on the channel and next sorare post you see over here!
