I’ve been working on the Appen app and website for the past three months and I wanted to share my experience with you. Appen offers three different tiers of tasks: projects, micro tasks, and surveys and data collection. I personally recommend doing the surveys and data collection with Prolific. I’ve been doing projects for Appen, which are easy to apply for and come with NDAs. My advice is to apply for as many projects as possible because the acceptance rate is low. I’ve been working on about three or four projects a week for about 10 to 30 minutes each.
One thing I suggest is keeping track of the hours worked and the money earned in a spreadsheet. This will help to ensure that you are paid accurately and on time. I also recommend setting aside a certain amount of time each week to work on Appen tasks, so that you can stay organized and make the most of your time.
Overall, I’ve had a positive experience working with Appen and I think it’s a great platform for making money from home. I recommend applying for as many projects as possible and keeping track of your hours and earnings in a spreadsheet.
It’s now been over 2 years since I initially started working on Appen. Over the 2 years I’ve made around £350+. It’s not as much as you can earn if you put in a lot of time.
Advantages of Appen
- There is a huge amount of projects you can apply for.
- You won’t get bored doing the projects as most of them are extremely interactive.
- The pay for the projects is very good compared to other online sites.
Disadvantages of Appen
- The projects are extremely competitive.
- There is very limited communication from Appen around the progress of applications.
- There is generally other sites that will offer less money, but are more user friendly and provide more long term positions and projects such as Clickworker – Lionbridge/Telus International.
